PAPER MAKING MOULDS

5 TYPES of Paper Making Mould and Drying Sheets are available. 

PAPER MAKING SIMPLE MOULDS: comes in three sizes (Small Makes 26x16cm, Medium Makes A4 and Large Makes 36x26cm) work by allowing the paper pulp to dry directly on them. With the simple moulds the paper dries with a feathered edge that you can trim straight. Normally used directly with pulp (without the drying sheets) and  needs to fully dry before you can reuse the mould.

FOLDING MOULDS: The double layer mould comes in Small (Makes A5) and Medium (Makes A4) sizes and works more like a traditional mould and deckle. The deckle part is hinged and swings down on the mould and forms a straight edge to the paper. The pack comes with one set of drying sheets. The drying sheets allow you to make multiple sheets of paper in one sitting and have them dry separately.

PULP DRYING SHEETS: Contains a set of sheets (one open mesh and one blotting fabric) in small (A5) or medium (A4) size, for use with the FOLDING MOULDS. If you are buying this item please make sure you take advantage of the COMBINED SHIPPING & Volume discount noted below so you pay less.

HOW TO MAKE THE PAPER: Use with original wood or cotton pulp material or non-glossy recycled paper. Other natural materials that can be incorporated in the paper are paper bark, flower petals and flat leaves. Onion skin gives a nice shiny fleck to the paper .  You can use inks, acrylic paints, powder pigments( see our sister shop Kalon Living)  or coloured recycled paper to die the paper to any desired colour. Bleaching recycled paper will return it to white.  Using coloured circular paper will die the pulp in that colour. Use mould with a tray to hold the mix of pulp and water, and layer other materials to hold them in the paper.  A handy and cheap tray that works well with the small and medium sized moulds is a standard kitty litter tray.
